Welcome to PRSSA!

Dear Current and Prospective PRSSA Member,

Thank you for visiting the Public Relations Student Society of America’s Web site, the online home to the largest pre-professional organization in the country. We currently have more than 9,000 members at 284 Chapters. Our Society strives to advance the profession through peer and professional networking, local and national programming and advocacy.

There are countless advantages to a PRSSA membership. Highlights include access to a national internship/entry-level position database called JobCenter, the opportunity to apply for more than $20,000 in scholarships and awards and the chance to write for national publications like FORUM and Connecting with PRSSA. Another benefit of PRSSA is the leadership opportunities offered to members on both local and national levels.

One of the biggest advantages to PRSSA is the network you can create. By attending events like our National Conference, Regional Activities and National Assembly, members can meet peers and professionals from across the country and in some cases across the globe.

If you are interested in leadership, PRSSA holds elections for paid dues members each spring; the national leaders are elected during National Assembly. Additionally, there are scholarship competitions that students can participate in

We want to be sure our members follow our vision for the Society. As we move forward through Growth, Education, Advancement, Relationships and Students (G.E.A.R.S.), we are helping our members achieve this goal. By creating an environment that nurtures this vision, our Society will continue thrive and each year will be better than the last.

Our members need to be aware of what challenges currently face the industry before they get into the professional world. Students need to know about diversity of thought, so they are open to people with a wide range of ideas and backgrounds. By promoting advocacy and diversity to students, they will leave college and PRSSA with a solid foundation of what lies ahead and will be prepared to handle obstacles in a diverse workforce.

If you have come to this Web page looking for ways to be involved or how you can start a PRSSA Chapter, know that this site can help you apply for a Charter. While there are some guidelines to becoming a Chapter, the rewards are well worth the efforts you will put forward in applying for a charter. If your school does not meet the requirements for a charter, I encourage you to keep checking back with this Web site as we continue to further efforts for non-members. Take a look at what we currently offer non-members.

Once more, thank you for visiting. I encourage you to browse the Web site and be sure you get all your questions answered. Please don’t hesitate to contact the National Committee with any inquiries or concerns you may have.

Best Wishes,

Kevin Saghy
National President

Rowan University, formerly Glassboro State College and Rowan College of New Jersey, educated four National Chairmen and Presidents of PRSSA, the only PRSSA chapter to accomplish this in the society’s 35 year history.
